VPATs

Did you Know?

The VPAT concept originated in the early 2000s through the efforts of the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI) to streamline accessibility assessments for IT products.

In creating VPATs (Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates), our strategy involves utilizing tailored templates to address varying accessibility standards across different products and platforms. For products targeting the U.S. market, we rely on the Revised Section 508 VPAT, aligning with updated Section 508 standards and offering a detailed assessment of software accessibility. This template covers critical areas like keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, color contrast, and usability for individuals with disabilities, ensuring comprehensive conformance reporting.

For web-based products and digital content, we utilize the WCAG 2.1 VPAT, aligning with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 standards. This template evaluates factors such as text alternatives, keyboard navigation, audio and video accessibility, and mobile responsiveness, ensuring compliance with universal access requirements.

Additionally, products targeting the European market and complying with the EU Accessibility Act are assessed using the EU Accessibility Act VPAT template. This template evaluates accessibility based on the Act's guidelines, covering aspects like content readability, multimedia accessibility, compatibility with assistive technologies, and compliance with EU accessibility regulations. Leveraging these tailored VPAT templates allows us to provide accurate and detailed conformance reports specific to each product's accessibility standards and regulatory frameworks, facilitating transparent communication of accessibility compliance to stakeholders and end-users.
